Victor Cobb (1876-1945)

Nocturne Princess Bridge (circa 1920) etching (mezzotint) limited edition 14/30, signed, titled and numbered in pencil below image, 12.5 x 17.5cm, circa 1921. Hauntingly beautiful, 'Nocturne Princess Bridge' in Melbourne instantly takes the viewer under the bridge. You can almost jump on a boat! The artist using the mezzotint technique captures the reflection of lights from Flinders St Station and the distant lights of the docklands, giving the viewer a feeling of space and distance. A remarkable application of light and shade, a trade mark of Victor Cobb.
