This jewel of the Sea is a weighty coral and pearl treasure, set in rich 18ct yellow gold and fit for a mermaid. Presented as three pristine rows of graduated organic gems – the two outer, pearl and the center, natural angel skin corals. The cabochon cut corals are immaculately matched, close set and dramatically graduated from 3mm to 1mm, the pearls from 3.2mm to 1.5mm, & each in its own shaped setting. Admire the intricately carved side rails, with their scrolling wave pattern and the robust under band formed of four graduated rails. The delicate colouring of this piece is in contrast to its surprising strength, proven by the satisfying snap of the clasp. The various parts combined by a long forgotten master jeweler to leave us with this impeccable find. Ladies of the era wore multiple bangles, sometimes contrasting & also in matching pairs. Wrists were a natural choice to showcase jewels as they were exposed in the evening dresses of the time, and have the advantage of being visible to the wearer as well as company. added to this is the scale afforded the zone, encouraging more of everything, gems, fine metals, design, engraving, colour & sparkle
